PaulaO - I LOVE your enthusiasm. The energy at this conference is absolutely amazing. Just when you think your tank is out of gas for the day, you drag your self to the next session, and somehow you become fascinated and able to draw from the group to keep going! It is a phenomanon like no other I have experienced.

Chrisy - I am HEARTBROKEN for your heartbreak. Was SO looking forward to seeing you and limping around together! My leg has been touch and go, but I think I just will make it using cabs to get to the conference center and probably taking a cane. (My therapists are working overtime to help me along.) And my hubby is bringing our exercycle upstairs to I can start using that now that my knee is less stiff.

Paula - You have the exhibit schedule and it may be good to meet there at our booth at 5pm exhibit closing, as that has been our usual plan in the past years. Then we all go to the Hot Topics Mentor Sessions taking a detour through the poster area to pick up some good quality eats and check out a few posters (rubbing elbows with a few famous doctors) on the way downstairs to the Hot Topics. (It is all in the Convention Center.) There is also a buffet at Hot Topics, but the food at the Posters area is better in MHO.

As for transportation each day, our hotel is pretty close so is not on the shuttle route. We walk or take a cheap cab. From the airport to town, we try to have a couple of people coordinate their arrivals so they share a cab fare. Same goes for when we are departing. In the past our dear Brenda would drive some of us in her big car. ;-(

You mentioned Tuesday evening. But there is no HER2 session on my schedule at 6pm - it must be part of the Educational Talks; I will check that. Our group will be going to the other educational talks on Tuesday afternoon - and they usually run into the evening. Maybe dinner after that???

MY STORY SO FAR ~~~~ Found suspicious lump 9/2000 Lumpectomy, then node dissection and port placement Stage IIB, 8 pos nodes of 18, Grade 3, ER & PR - Adriamycin 12 weekly, taxotere 4 rounds 36 rads - very little burning 3 mos after rads liver full of tumors, Stage IV Jan 2002, one spot on sternum Weekly Taxol, Navelbine, Herceptin for 27 rounds to NED! 2003 & 2004 no active disease - 3 weekly Herceptin + Zometa Jan 2005 two mets to brain - Gamma Knife on Jan 18 All clear until treated cerebellum spot showing activity on Jan 2006 brain MRI & brain PET Brain surgery on Feb 9, 2006 - no cancer, 100% radiation necrosis - tumor was still dying Continue as NED while on Herceptin & quarterly Zometa Fall-2006 - off Zometa - watching one small brain spot (scar?) 2007 - spot/scar in brain stable - finished anticoagulation therapy for clot along my port-a-catheter - 3 angioplasties to unblock vena cava 2008 - Brain and body still NED! Port removed and scans in Dec. Dec 2008 - stop Herceptin - Vaccine Trial at U of W begun in Oct. of 2011 STILL NED everywhere in Feb 2014 - on wing & prayer 7/14 - Started twice yearly Zometa for my bones Jan. 2015 checkup still shows NED 2015 Neuropathy in feet - otherwise all OK - still NED. Same news for 2016 and all of 2017. Nov of 2017 - had small skin cancer removed from my face. Will have Zometa end of Jan. 2018.
