Brenda and Ceesun, Thanks so much for the info. It does make it easier to handle the wacky world of maintenance chemo knowing that I have another place to go and ask questions.

Out of curiosity, what happens if one waits too long, or takes the xeloda without food? Does it just intensify the symptoms or does something else entirely new happen?

Age 40, Dx 2/09 with locally advanced Left breast IDC, grade 3, ER-, PR-, Her2+2, stage 3b tumor >5cm, lymph node involvement in interior chest wall, and axillary nodes
March to June 2009 Dose Dense Chemo (March and April 4x Adriamycin/Cytoxan, May and June 4xTaxol/Herceptin) Herceptin continued every 3 weeks through April 2010
July 2009 double mastectomy, right prophylactic, temporary expanders placed for delayed reconstruction
Oct 2009 Rt expander removed due to infection
Nov to December 2009 Radiation tx
April 2010 PET/CT shows active disease in interior chest wall, new growth in breast adjacent to expander
May 2010 biopsy confirms active ER-/PR-/Her2+2 cancer stage 3c
May 2010 left expander removed so as not to interfere with long-term diagnostic follow-up while being treated
June 2010 finished review of treatment options and second opinion appointments
June 2010 start Tykerb/Xeloda
