I've had bc in the US and here in France. I had great insurance in the US but it still cost 20,000 out of pocket, luckily we had that. I'm glad the second time around I'm here in France where the first question they ask at the hospital isn't what insurance do you have but how can we help you.
I'm happy for those of you who are happy with your current insurance and sad for those of you who aren't or haven't insurance. I would like to see the US have the same right to good health that all the other Western countries have but sometimes I think the US is just too big and should be more than one country because Blue and Red states will never see things the same way and then there's Fox propaganda. I know the Canadians feel like I do - I was born there and I know they and us in France don't understand the terror of universal healthcare. It works, it's fair. I choose my doctors, treatment happens quickly - very quickly for cancer. Unfortunately Congress will water anything down, ask for pork belly projects and it will remain a mess.
So fight for your treatment and health and good luck to all of you. Maybe a public option is a good idea than those of you who love and can afford your insurance can stay in it and those who can't will get help.
As a doctor's daughter I don't like to think of people being without healthcare. Everyone deserves good healthcare.
