Thanks for the comfort from this family. You all energized Ed and I with such power. Honestly I felt so protected since yesterday. I felt she was protected too from the evils she is enduring.

Mom broke the ribs on her left side which did not puncture the lungs. However, she is a little peanut of a woman and the airbags did push those ribs into her lungs causing severe bruising. The vent she is on is for the underlying pnemonia, a very bad case at that. Also she has COPD and asthma, her throat was almost closed shut. She has a bad broken arm.

They are trying to wean her off the vent right now and she is fighting to do that too. She is still not awake but knows we are there. I swear when I told her we were going to take care of her cat, that she winked one of her two closed eyes. Our goal is to get her off that vent ASAP.

Today they increased her antibiotics. She cannot take anything too harsh, especially pain meds. They are doing a terrific job in getting her well. When they came in to do rounds I told them all that I put in a good word for them. I said that she would be proud of their efforts since she was a RN for over 30 years. They laughed so hard I thought she might awaken. Then the pressure sank in....hahaha. She is a tough person and was a soft but tough nurse.

The main thing is to get her any tests she will need when she is still asleep. Her arthritis prevents her from laying down that flat for that long. Right now her heart is severely enlarged but we are unsure if this is from the accident.

Please do whatever you can while she is asleep and comfortable. Do it when she cannot say no. She is thick so she may refuse these tests that will aid in her recovery. Unbelievable, this is the only way to get her better right now. Did I mention she was thick?? Haha!

I am sure my butt may get kicked when she improves but I am willing to take that chance. I am hoping that I do not get downgraded from the pedestal she has me on (more laughter)

Ed, Joan and I want to extend our deepest thanks to all of you as I world becomes more challenging. I know she will overcome this and will be better with some time. I'll keep you all posted. Prayers right back at y'all>>Believe51
