DDT was used extensively. We were probably all exposed if we are old enough. But I really believe that it is probably a combination of various carcinogens, of which there are many. We introduce them into our lives with air fresheners, cleaners, detergents, and it appears, in our children's bath products. We create them when we cook some items. We wrap our food in them. Then to add insult to injury, we eat patently unhealthy diets ( I know, some of you eat perfectly, the rest of us like me, try to eat right), we put on chemical fragrances, we surround ourselves with chemicals, knowingly or unknowingly. Many of the products that we use are not regulated, many of them chemicals have not been tested for carcinogenicity. I guess the point I am trying to make is that we pay a price for our lifestyle and we have decisions to make as consumers and as a nation. I am trying to garden organically, I still slip. I am trying to watch what I bring into my house, but it is difficult. We are going to have to let these companies know that we want safe products and be willing to do without things that are harmful to us. Each purchase you make is a opportunity to choose a safer product.
