Study Shows Best Methods For Assessing Women's Breast Cancer Risk

http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/141775.php

What miffs me here is the following statement:

"Getting a mammogram is important, but women also need to start asking their physician to help assess what their future risk of breast cancer is,"

Why is the onus on us to have to ask? Why doesn't the physician who orders the mammogram and gets the report initiate this discussion? As survivors, we on this Board are more attuned to it, but the average patient is not and this, IMO, is a misplacement of responsibility.

Well, here is another take on it that answers my question: http://www.cancerlearning.com/index..../1/news_id/856

"Still, the team concludes, systems to routinely assess risk factors and breast density, and to communicate that information to the patient, have yet to be developed."
