I know I read an abstract somewhere before I started lapatinib to the effect that patients who did have the acne skin reaction did better than those who had no skin involvement.

In that reference, which I cannot relocate, it mentioned that the best therapy was benzoyl peroxide, as opposed to Retin-A, another common acne remedy. The retin-A worked by a differing method that was not helpful.

Strange that steroids work. They give me acne. Worse case I've had in decades when I was on them for brain swelling before they could excise the tumor in my brain the first time. The studies contraindicated the use of topical steroid for the acne from lapatinib.

I've been using the peroxide on my zits, week three of lapatinib. Seems to work.

My 15 yo son and I dab up with peroxide, then benzoly peroxide together. Now there's a way to bond with your son.
