A surgeon doesn't have to be a "breast cancer specialist" to be taking out nodes successfully but if not then you are likely to get more accurate results if the surgeon did a fair number of them under supervision of a surgeon who has done a lot of them before doing them independently, and who has done a fair number after that.
I would want to know more precisely what the surgeon was referring to when he said he removed 70% of the nodes. For example, how much tissue was actually removed during each surgery?
