Hi there:
What I usually do is read something.
That takes my mind off whatever it is that I'm thinking about so that I can relax and go to sleep.
If you are really serious about getting to sleep, pick up something useful like a textbook and tell yourself that since you are up you may as well study............you'll go to sleep in a flash.
My next bet is to get out of bed and walk around a bit, maybe play some free cell for about 1/2 hour. That can help put you to sleep too.
