eric this news is really for her2 negative bc patients

the study was done looking at all comers with breast cancer

The vast majority are ER+AND HER2 NEGATIVE. IN FACT, HER2+ER+ breast cancer is felt to make up 8-10% of all breast cancers

So when they looked at all comers of course it seemed LHRH agonists were as good as chemo (and a tiny improvement occured if they took both)--that is because chemo is not particularly useful (if at all) in bread-and-butter usual ER+her2- breast cancer

There are other studies showing that just depriving her2+ER+ breast cancer is rarely enough to improve survival.

This is GREAT news for the vast majority of premenopausal breast cancer patients, particularly those trying to maintain their fertility, but isn't really applicable to those who are her2+ER+.

Sorry to deflate the balloon!
