So sorry your friend is having such a hard time finding a combo that will keep things in check. Some of us have had to try multiple combinations to finally find a "coctail" that works. Sometimes it's very discouraging, but the since your friend feels well and is able to work and live her life, that is cause for encouragement.
I would expect her onc to try another combo, there are several more that are quite effective. Also, Tykerb, another Her2 targeted therapy, was just approved and that may be another option for her.
She is lucky to have a friend like you who cares enough to be involved in helping find answers.
Keep us posted on what her onc advises, and hopefully we can help answer questions, give support and in general be a "shoulder".

Herceptin has served as the "Backbone" of my treatment strategy for over 6 years, giving me great quality of life. In 2005, I was privileged to participate in the University of Washington/Seattle HER2 Vaccine Trial.
