Charlotte,

If you haven't done so, try taking a Tylenol one hour before the intravenous injection & ask the nurse to make the infusion last 30 minutes (or more if necessary) instead of the standard 15 minutes. Then take a tylenol every 6 hours or so in the first 24 hours. This should completely prevent or reduce such side effects such as joint pain, fever etc..
If this is successful you may be able to reduce the number of tylenol pills for subsequent I.V.'s
