Here’s what I do.

Breakfast – cereals (Uncle Sam, All Bran Extra Fiber, Kashi nuggets) with a tablespoon or 2 of raw wheat germ, blueberries (or other berries), 10-12 whole walnuts (on top of 1 cup of lowfat yogurt). I use different cereals. Sometimes I have oatmeal made with 1% milk (I use lowfat for breakfast vs fat free in order to get a serving of conjugated linoleic acid), always berries and walnuts (for short chain (ALA) omega 3. On the weekend I have a veggie omelet (no cheese – I NEVER have cheese on anything). Sundays are pancakes with flaxmeal and fruits.

Lunch – during week – salad bar with only veggies and beans/legumes. Since they don’t have olive or canola oil, I only use lemon juice. Usually salad is large but I watch how much beans/legumes but it’s a free for all on the low cal veggies and lettuces. Sometimes I have sushi with a small salad. On the weekend I have leftovers and I might zap some extra veggies in the microwave.

Dinner – we rarely eat red meat (probably once a week). We eat fish, vegetarian meals and chicken. We always have whole grain pasta, brown rice. Sometimes I will have a white potato (if we are having mashed) but usually a yam or nothing if it is a potato night. 2 different category of veggies (like broccoli and carrots) unless we have a salad too.

I drink coffee in the morning (2 cups) and then switch to white or green tea and water.

I do have wine on the weekend (usually 1-2 glasses) but if we are out, at a dinner party or having a dinner party, I will have more (we aren't all working so hard not to ever live).

I will (a couple of times a week) have some chocolate (most of the time milk chocolate). I am not a huge fruit eater but eat the 1-2 servings a day at breakfast. My diet seems simplistic but I make it quite varied (especially when looking at it by the week). I only use extra virgin olive oil and canola.

Hope this helps.
