Thumbs up Re: 32 year old w/ HER2+++/Mitral Valve Prolapse & Herceptin???

It's been a while since I've last posted an update... but not for any other reason than life has returned to a level of normalcy.

My wife's last 13 months of scans, including a PET/CT, bone scan...

Re: 32 year old w/ HER2+++/Mitral Valve Prolapse & Herceptin???

No radiation current in the plans. Thinking we may want to avoid Xeloda/Tykerb since it seems the only recruiting TDM-1 trial excludes those who have previously used Xel/Tyk. Would be a shame to...

Re: Constant all over body pain (m)...

Didn't see it listed anywhere, so perhaps talk with your Onc about whether a biophosphonate (Zometa) might be good for you. I'd also demand a bone scan to check for mets. Even another PET/CT. It...

Re: I could really use some input

Be sure to get the PET/CT if you haven't already done it. CT alone isn't sufficient. You need a PET to see if there is any metabolic activity. Wouldn't hurt to also get a bone scan and brain MRI just...

Re: I could really use some input

DeenaH, I wish I could tell you that a score of 0 on the CTC means NED, however I do not believe this to be true. My wife has had two CTC tests done, both of which have come back at 0, however she...

Re: I could really use some input

My wife had the good fortune of being seen by Dr. Slamon this week. For those interested in seeing him, he does not take new oncology patients, but is willing to see patients for consultative...

wanted to bring this topic up again for discussion. My wife (Stage IV, single liver met), had this test done 10/11 and the result came back with 5.9 (which seems to fall at the very low end of...

Re: Circulating Cell Recurrance test

Wife had initial dx at Stage IV with a single liver met. Did the CTC before first chemo treatment last month and score was a 0. Unsure how to interpret that given the metastasis.

Re: 32 year old w/ HER2+++/Mitral Valve Prolapse & Herceptin???

Just wanted to give a quick update. My wife did a follow up PET/CT yesterday. First TCH was done on Aug 9, a second on Aug 30, and third will be on Monday. The numbers related to the isolated liver...

Re: 32 year old w/ HER2+++/Mitral Valve Prolapse & Herceptin???

Wife's second TCH was Monday... Tumor Marker CA 15-3 was redone and dropped from 1003 to ~550 (still seems awefully high, but Onc was thrilled). Full healthy thick head of hair still (those on TCH,...

Re: 32 year old w/ HER2+++/Mitral Valve Prolapse & Herceptin???

Question all... my wife just started TCH two weeks ago (1 of 6 completed). Been reading a lot about Tykerb as well and think it could be a good addition to the treatment. Is that possible?
Can one...

Re: Pet Scan for Stage 1?

No PET scan before surgery - but MRI w/ Mammograms. Ironically the initial MRI showed the liver mass in passing, which led to two additional MRIs with contrast. Despite that they did not request the...

Re: Pet Scan for Stage 1?

My wife had a lumpectomy (7mm IDC with 0/13). Doctors locally staged her at 1b. We didn't like the direction the care was going locally, so we went to another med onc who requested full restaging....
