Re: CVS Caremark Denying Herceptin Coverage

How awful! This is crazy. I would call your oncologist's office to see if he or she can help. Maybe Genentech could help you with the costs until you get the decision overturned. They have...

Re: Need early access for 2013 SABCS abstracts

I can't seem to find the 2013 abstracts online. Is the public not allowed access to them yet?

Re: Brain MRI this morning

Wow, what an ordeal!! I believe I was told in advance that I could not do a brain MRI with my expanders in. I think they have some metal in them.

If you are going to have surgery to remove...

Re: How can they know this?

I am glad your daughter had such a great response to treatment. Of course, her oncologist can't know how long she will live. All the doctor can do is give his best estimate, based on the median of...

Re: Cancelled reconstruction

I also would concur with the NOLA recommendation. I didn't end up having a Diep, but my research indicated that, if I wanted a Diep, they were the best in the country. I even spoke with a woman who...

Re: Lower back pain - when to worry?

Yes, you definitely can have bone mets with normal labs. When I was first diagnosed, I had mets in almost every bone in my spine, and all my labs were perfectly normal. And I felt fine!

Re: BC Mets to Uterus - Roller Coaster Ride

I would think that the breast cancer onc would be more knowledgeable, since it is breast cancer. Regarding radiation, why not get an opinion from a radiation oncologist, since that would be the...

Re: Chemo Failure #3...now I'm doing what???

I hope the procedure went well! Sending lots of good thoughts for a quick and easy recovery, and, of course, for the obliteration of the mets!

Re: Kadcyla/TDM1 CELEBRATION @ Genentech:)

Hi Coolbreeze,

I am sorry that your doctor's office won't order the drug for you. Perhaps he could coordinate with a major cancer center in your area. I am sure UCSF will have it soon, but that...

Re: These SE's are no JOKE!

Jessica,

I am glad the radiation went well.

On the chemo front, some people find weekly Taxol more tolerable than Taxotere. I know I didn't find Taxol too bad. Could you switch? Of course,...

Re: C-diff

Hi Deena,

I am sorry you are in the hospital and you have c-diff and pneumonia. Cancer is more than enough, I think!

I read an article recently, and the poop transplant is extremely...

Re: perjeta with gemzar?

I found this information in the sticky above regarding T-DM1. I would call the number below and ask about an EAP (expanded access program) near you. Even if Stockton is the closest, you would only...

Re: Herceptin alone -- always at an oncology center?

I get my Herceptin infusions on weekends, when there are not likely to be any oncologists on-site. Of course, the nurses are experienced in Herceptin infusions. Maybe someone at your local hospital...

Re: Best day of week for chemo?

Thursday worked well for me, too. Friday I felt fine, but took off from work anyhow. Eventually, I was somewhat tired on Saturday and Sunday, and ready for work on Monday. Between chemo and seeing...

Re: TDM-1 results reported @ ASCO annual mtg 2012 now in New England Journal of Medic

Actually, this article (and the full article seems to be available for free) updates the ASCO data, and includes the significant point that T-DM1 improves overall survival over Tykerb and Xeloda by...

Re: Oh yeah, and about that bad leg...

Chrisy,

Can someone bring you in food from the outside? It is a shame for you to suffer with hospital food when you are in San Francisco, a culinary mecca.

I hope your leg is doing better.

Hey Chrisy,

I am sure you had better plans for the three day weekend.

Re: HELP!!!!!! Pertuzumab denied by insurance! iN PANIC MODE AND DON'T KNOW THAT TO

Re: TDM-1 petition to Dr. Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Huma

The concept behind T-DM1 is exciting – adding the benefit of chemotherapy to the...

Re: TDM-1 petition to Dr. Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Huma

One thought. . . . The results of a recent big trial (EMILIA, I think) with T-DM1 are scheduled to be presented in a plenary session at ASCO, which is the first week of June. This suggests to me...

Re: IBC after initial dx of IDC?

I am so sorry to hear of your recurrence.

I believe your oncologist is wrong on the adriamycin front. Typically, adriamycin IS effective for Her2 positive breast cancer. Some, like Dr....
