Re: Splitting nails

Tiffany--I have a love/hate relationship with Amazon.com. You can order Evonail from them. I also have the problem of the skin beside some of my nails (mostly thumbs and forefingers) cracking, and...

Re: Recent news

Cathy--

Thanks for the update.

One of the most inspiring things about your story is that you and your caregivers kept trying things until you got a good result. And you've been at it a LONG...

Re: Heart Issues with Long Term Herceptin Use

Marie,

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing heart problems. It would be scary to drop Herceptin.

I have not had reduced EF. In fact mine is high enough (and it increased between...

Re: Perjeta Side-Effects

Tiffany--

I'm so glad you found something that works for you. Thank you for letting the group know.

Dealing with diarrhea by increasing fiber intake goes against conventional wisdom. I tried it...

Re: CEA: How low can you go?!

Tiffany--

They test breast cancer for hormone receptors and HER2. If all three (ER, PR, and HER2) are present, then a cancer is "triple positive." If none, then it's triple negative.

I don't...

Re: How long for T-Dm1 induced neuropathy to go away ...

I have had some degree of neuropathy since my first treatment, but it definitely ebbs and flows. I had some neuropathy after TDM-1, though less severe than with taxanes.

I recently stopped getting...

Re: CEA: How low can you go?!

Oh, hi Juls,

Thank you for asking.

My onc wants me to get a biopsy, and I agree. It's been awhile, and my cancer might have mutated into a different type. (Though if it has changed it won't be...

Re: endocrine followed by t-dm1 and back to endocrine

Nguyen,

That's an interesting question. I don't recall reading about such an effect, but it would be great if it were true.

Re: CEA: How low can you go?!

Hi Tiffany,

Thank you so much for your words of concern and encouragement. I appreciate it. And I'll definitely share what we decide to do next, and report on results.

I would not say Eribulin...

Re: Anyone else have a line of IDC breast cancer?

I had an actual mass of IDC but no one was ever able to palpate the tumor. Somehow the way it was positioned it couldn't be felt. 2.3 cm--not huge but it should have been detectable. It did show up...

Re: CEA: How low can you go?!

I have had progression in my lungs (especially the right lung) on Eribulin and Herceptin. So I looked at Ixempra. I'm allergic to Taxol, and I've never had anthracycline, so I am not a candidate.

Re: Kadcyla - Scotland

I assume one needs to live in Scotland to sign the petition? Is that a safe assumption?

And I agree. The Daily Mail article is much clearer.

My daughter, who has a master's degree in biomedical...

Re: Kadcyla - Scotland

I hope it works!

Interested that the suffix "um" is added to both halves of the "official" drug name as shown in the illustration. Kadcyla is called "Trastusumab emtansine" here in the US.

Dear Michka,

What an ordeal. I'm so sorry, my friend.

I hope you will be able to get Herceptin & Perjeta added to one or more chemo drugs. Or maybe you can get nerartinib on a compassionate use...

Re: CT scan vs PET scan

I get a combined PET/CT. The PET shows areas that are "glucose avid." The CT gives a picture of the shape and size of the thing, but, as Tiffany says, can't detect whether it's metabolically active...

Re: Port or No Port?

Two more "no port" advantages: On another forum, a member posted about her port getting infected. She had to be hospitalized. She had to learn to "pack" the wound once the infected port was removed....

Re: Sophia

I had Xeloda and Herceptin (and Perjeta) for awhile. It wasn't a home run, but it was relatively good at controlling my cancer for a time.

Here in outlier-land, it's more art than science, though...
