Risk symptoms and treatment of Deep Vein Thrombosis in cancer patients

I was recently diagnosed with a DVT after my second round of neoadjuvant chemotherapy with Herceptin, Perjeta taxotere and carboplatin. I went for my routine check up and was generally feeling great except I was limping as my left ankle and calf were sore and the ankle was slightly swollen. There were three possiblities: a gout attack, painful joints and swelling from the taxotere and carboplatin, or possibly a blood clot(DVT) in a blood vessel of my leg. It was a blood clot and now I am being treated for it. It was caught early only partially blocking two blood vessels in my knee so no hospital!! I just wanted all to be alert to this possible complication of cancer and cancer treatment. Here is a link to a mayo clinic article.

FLfrost, sorry to hear about the DVT, You are luck to have an alert team and got treatment right away. I hope it resolves quickly and thank you for sending out the alert to others to be aware.
