Cancer Kickin' through Healthy Livin' in March
Here's an article I read this morning about the increased risk of breast cancer recurrence and death among those who are overweight:
http://healthland.time.com/2012/08/2...cer-come-back/ YIKESAROOZI! I've known about these studies a long time but haven't been doing much about it personally. I was wondering if there is any interest in a thread for some mutual encouragement and support in making and achieving some healthy lifestyle goals together in our fight against cancer or it's recurrence. It's the start of a brand new, fresh month today. I've fooled around and struggled long enough and I'm motivated to seriously work at taking off some excess pounds. I gained weight during and after cancer treatment and want to make some positive changes toward a more health promoting lifestyle. If you're interested in joining me, pick any area you want to work on in March and update here periodically. It doesn't have to be about weight loss, just an area of lifestyle that you'd like to improve on to be healthier. A LOT of progress can be accomplished together in the next 31 days! :) Here's to a stellar "Day One" of Cancer Kickin' Through Healthy Livin' in March! Paula |
Re: Cancer Kickin' through Healthy Livin' in March
my onc stresses exercise is important to fight cancer but i'm not overweight, and actually I'm active also. the article doesn't mention how overweight, I was thin the first time around and at recurrence, i actually only gained weight after the recurrence during chemo, I would be interested to know the weight factors and the time to recurrence. my chemo nurse is very skeptical about diets, however i'd be wary of dairy products, including yogurt.
