Cancerversary

My breast cancer was diagnosed in April, 2011 but it took awhile to finish the staging workup. So today is the 2nd anniversary of the day I learned it is Stage IV.

One thing that has changed for me in the last 2 years is I am much more likely to "seize the day." My friend Janell told me she and her daughter were going to Ireland and I said, "may I come too?" They agreed to have me join them on the second week of their trip.

So I'm in Kenmare, Kerry, Ireland right now, looking out at an amazing view of mountains and water, enjoying the fluffy white lambs and the six millennia of history (stone circles, ring forts, castles, etc.), and feeling blessed and lucky to be alive.

I've learned not to worry about anything unless and until there's something to worry about. The present moment isn't much--it's just all we have.

Cheers to you Amy, and as they say in Ireland, Slainte (I can hear the clink of the Guinness glass!)

How wonderful that you are making your dreams a reality - a lesson again for all of us. Enjoy your holiday - and the lovely Irish people, music and of course, 'the craic'!
