Questions DNA sequencing-tumor

Hi everyone,

Do you know of anyone who have had DNA sequencing done? I'd like to know what entails, the cost,
is it normally pay for by the insurance company? is it something a doctor can relay on? Is it required a new biopsy or old slides can be used?

I appreciate any help with this. Thank you so much.

Adriana

Re: Questions DNA sequencing-tumor

Hi Adriana,
I had tumor profiling done on the mets in my lungs. My oncologist sent it to a lab called Precipio Diagnostics in New Haven CT - it is staffed by senior pathology doctors and researchers from Yale Medical School. Their report showed I had a genetic mutation and matched the mutation with FDA approved treatments that have been shown in clinical trials to be effective with this type of mutation.
Becky posted a "sticky" about my experience on this board. I am happy to PM if you have specific questions.
Good luck,
Kim (from CT)
