On aromasin and having trouble
 

I don't know if the aromasin is the problem? I had to see an ENT today for my throat. Its red and looks like it has some wear and tear. He said I should see a gastro. dr. because it seems to be coming from my stomach? I know it can bother your throat but your stomach? A side note my white cells have dropped again 2.0 and my normal cholestrol level is getting higher 220. I'm a vegitarian and do not eat fried or fatty foods. Is anyone else having any of these crazy things happen to them on an AI? Or is this just minor stuff I shouldn't worry about?

I feel healthy on the whole I have just had a couple of days over a span of a couple weeks where I feel I have the flu and its gone after 24 hrs. ,which I don't believe amonts to much.

Hi Nancy,

I had to take a daily Nexium after chemo and that has continued through almost seven years of Arimidex, I also had an endoscopy done at one point but it showed nothing more than a hiatal hernia and hope your issue is nothing sinister too!

I've been taken it since November. Haven't noticed anything different ... (had taken Tamoxifen for over five years.)

Hi Nancy, I'm on Aromasin (Exemestane) too, but I'm also on Affinitor (Everolimus) so my side effects overlap. I can tell you my mouth and throat are always dry. I have to drink a lot of water often. If I don't my throat and sinus close up. My sinsus are dry, stuffed and running at the same time. My cholesterol is the highest it's ever been. I get headaches often, and have a throaty, tickle-like cough. I don't have much energy so I tired easily and quickly, have mild nausea and dizziness, have trouble sleeping and staying awake (days and nights are mixed up), my skin is extremely dry and aging and my hair has thinned. Besides that, I can't complain. :) Hugs, Jo

Hey Nancy,

I too have been having throat issues but ignored them for ages as thought a sore throat in the grand scheme of things was nothing to worry about! Eventually went to doc and did have infection that was being prolonged by nasal infection! The antibiotics didn't actually help but Kyolic garlic and maybe the small amount of probiotics too?? My energy is way low which with 2 littlies to contend with can be hard - Vit B is helping with that too.
I also have the AI inflicted joint pain.

My cholesterol is also up. Joint pain better with glucosamine and also thirsty. I do take acidophyllis everyday which my oncology nurses feel helped prevent me from infections, uti's etc while on chemo. Just a suggestion. 2 years down, 3 to go. We can do this.

My cholestrol kept creeping and just got too high. My GP drew a line in the sand and I am now on the lowest dose of generic Lipitor. It dropped my cholestrol 100 points (and raised the good HDL which was always good even higher and dropped the LDL). All this in 6 weeks. I just went on after Thanksgiving. It is what it is.

I was on Femara (letrozole) for 5 years and my always low cholesteral (160 total) shot up to the low 200's. When I ended Femara, cholesteral went back down to 180-190.

Also had the bone aches and it was not kind to my existing osteopenia, but compared to Tamoxifen - a walk in the park.

It will be interesting to see what my doctor wants me to do after chemo re: AI. Was on anti-hormonals for 10 years previously and wonder if she will still choose Femara or one of the "A's".
