Oh! I thought Sandy was a woman - "she" is a major storm supposed to be heading up the east coast.

People in its path - hope you are making the recommended preparations. God be with you.

Re: For those in treatment and in Sandys path

Thank you. I'm convinced she's making a beeline for my house! LOL. My husband went out and bought the mother of all generators - he works for the road department so me and the kids are usually home alone during storms.

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers, Redwolf! Please let us know how you are
(I'm from Margate originally)
FYI, The ASCO website will post information if weather conditions prohibit patients from obtaining treatments for an extended period if time. That's how I got chemo after Katrina while evacuated.

I'll be thinking of you, Penny, when the winds start.

I went through more storms than I care to count when I lived in Florida, and I wasn't expecting them to follow me up here.

Edited to add: there's one track that has Sandy turning out to sea. It's the least likely path, but my hope is to be pleasantly surprised.

Re: For those in treatment and in Sandys path

Thanks, all. So far, so good, thank You, God! My husband opened up his bible this morning to Psalm 55. Verse 4 - " "the height of the day I shall fear: but I will trust in thee." Amen.

We lost power for a week this past summer due to a freak windstorm that was totally unpredicted. It's called a "derecho". I never realized what a creature of comfort I am!

Friends,
Thanks for the prayers! What a mess! I can happily report that after 36 hours without power...I am now sitting in my warm house with a hot cup of fresh brewed coffee...waiting for the water heater to get warm enough for a shower. All's well that ends well!
Hope the rest of our East coast sisters are doing as well!

Re: For those in treatment and in Sandys path

Glad to see your post Denise! We lose power here for a day or two or three almost every year, so have some readiness items.

But no one can be ready for that storm surge wall of water that inundates towns.

And that horrific fire in Queens that ate up something like 80 to 100 homes. This is mother nature at her worst.

Hope everyone who gets treatment will be able to get to their center in New York or anywhere else in the east.

Well, we're all ok here, but most of our boardwalks are gone. Even worse is the loss of homes, though. So sad. Onward & upward.

Re: For those in treatment and in Sandys path

We have power now. The fridge is empty, but that's no big deal.

I saw an aerial photograph of what happened in Queens. Those poor people.

Do we know that all our forum members are okay?

I heard from JoanM who lives on Staten Is. She lives on high ground, but still has no power. Her cell service is back up.

It is chilly there and I am not sure about her food supply.

Yay for power rhondalea!!!!!!
Do we have any Her2 sisters in That area (Staten) that can maybe stop by Joan's?

Wish I were closer, I would bring food/water.

Thinking of you all and praying the recovery moves swiftly,
XOXO Marcia

Re: For those in treatment and in Sandys path

I thank God for all the volunteers, law enforcement personnel, and soldiers working overtime searching for the missing. Also for the utility employees that have left their families to travel, literally, across the country, to help restore power.

This is a tough one.
