Last TCH tomorrow
1 Attachment(s)
Hi All,
I wanted to drop you a line and say tomorrow I will have my las of 6 TCH, at a reduced dose in hopes of decreasing the length of time I am in a chemo coma (8 days last time). All of you have been a great support to me, answering my questions and cheering me on. I am ready to close the chemo chapter of my life and move on...to rads.... I am adding a pic of the Field Of Pink we planted yesterday, was a wonderful and empowering day. |
Re: Last TCH tomorrow
Hi. This is wonderful news. I think you will find radiation much easier than chemo (most people do) and it is a great feeling to be moving on to the next step.
Celebrate ! K |

Re: Last TCH tomorrow
Hi Leah,
The one memory that still stands out in my mind is the way I felt going into my 6th and final treatment. I was dreading it. Treatment #5 had been horrible and I came right out and asked the doctor if he could put me into a coma. He looked sad and asked if it had been that bad, and I said... "Well, yes, and I hear that each one gets progressively worse." Of course he wouldn't induce a coma, but he did tell me to call him for any reason in the weeks ahead. As it turned out, it was not worse and I realized later that was because my father had passed away one week before treatment #5, and I also came down with a bad sinus infection. While getting my last chemo infusion, I found out about a charity bike ride in October that was going to benefit some of the organizations that had helped me during my treatment. It gave me a goal to get excited about - that light at the end of the tunnel. It was also such a relief to get that chapter of my treatment over with. I hope that you can find something to look forward to in the months ahead. I'm glad that it was something that made me go out and be active again - that really helped. I just visited your blog and I'm so glad that you have taken the time to document your feelings during this journey. (It is wonderful by the way!) I didn't, and 3 1/2 years after my treatment ended, it is hard for me to remember the details. I did start a blog a little over a year ago, and if you are interested, you can read about my journey here (You will have to scroll down to the end to read about my 6th infusion)... http://www.thishomeplate.com/2011/09...y-part-iv.html I pray that all goes well tomorrow and for the next 3 weeks of recovery. Soon this will all be a distant memory for you. ~My best, Alice |

Awsome picture, very inspiring. Congrat on your last chemo, radiation will so much easier. Just keep checking all those proceedures off and you will be done before you know it.

Re: Last TCH tomorrow
Such wonderful news - hope today and every day from now on will find you feeling better and better. Radiation is tiring but the side effects are pretty easy to manage. Just watch your skin and use some kind of ointment (that your radiation doc or nurses recommend) after each treatment. Love that picture, too.

Re: Last TCH tomorrow
Congratualtions - I remember my 6th seemed the easiest - probably a mental thing but it worked for me.
Radiation is definitely easier. An acupuncturist recommended an herbal burn sauve that worked wonders for me. None of the normal creams did much. You can buy it online - SpringWind Herbs - it is the Burn Sauve product. It doesn't smell great but I never blistered. I was scared because the Adria is supposed to make skin sensitive but I did fine. Get it approved by your Radiation Oncologist. You're on the home stretch. |
Re: Last TCH tomorrow
Thanks all
I got a 10% decrease of the Taxotere and a 15% decrease of the carbo. Feeling better right now then usual. So very happy to be done (just got the last nuelasta, can't wait to take the last decadron tonight), mentally in a better place. Onc says i can get my port out too (Nov 19) and get the H IV. 18 weeks ago he said it would stay in till the end of H "just in case I need more chemo" but I guess he (thankfully) changed his mind!! Re: Last TCH tomorrow
Oh Leah!
I'm so happy for you! With all that's been going on, I wasn't really the support I had planned to be for you...but strong lady that you are...YOU DID GREAT!! I agree, rads are easier. Just remember to moisturize every single day, even if you don't feel like you need it! Hugs! Denise |
Re: Last TCH tomorrow
Thanks all
My joy of closing this chapter of treatment has been overshadowed by this mornings passing of my grandma. She was my last living grandparent and a 30+ year breast cancer survivor. May she finally rest in peace. Love you all Leah |
Re: Last TCH tomorrow
My deepest sympathies, Leah.
May happy memories carry you through. holding you in love and light ((((((leah))))) |
