Phase 3 Metformin Trial
 

I was just sent a document about a new trial opening up at Sibley Memorial Hospital. It's for Metformin. Basically you either get Metformin or a Placebo and continue on with your regular treatment. I feel like I have nothing to lose by participating. I have taken Metformin before when I was younger and I can handle the side effects. My only concern is if I get the Placebo. Can one tell if you are on a placebo? I'm assuming you get no side effects whatsoever right?

My friend had some mild nausea as a side effect and felt she was getting the drug as she lost a few pounds (a bonus to her!) and had been told this was a possibilty, its an interesting trial and she guessed correctly she had been taking the Metformin.
