I'd like to know when they're going to make a movie about The Stage IV patient, 100+ chemos, Bald 3x's, 7 weeks radiation, novalis, liver resection,RFA, mastectomy, reconstruction, 1 nipple, 10 inch abdominal scar, that's been living in 3 month increments for 9+years that's NOT a melodramatic, inorganic depiction of what it's like to LIVE WITH this disease, SURVIVE WITH this disease and still enjoy a full, happy, however complicated existence?

Sorry to be so grouchy about it and I know I shouldn't judge a book by it's cover...
Truly hope it's better than I fear it will be!

Thanks for the link. Everyone here has lived it or is living it.
I always thought that the Lifetime original movie "Living Proof" staring Harry Conick Jr. should be required watching for every her2 positive breast cancer patient who is offered Herceptin.
"Living Proof" shows how much work went into the development and FDA approval of Herceptin. Dr. Dennis Slamon is credited with the development of Herceptin. It took him many, many years to develop it and get it approved by the FDA.
I hope Lifetime will show it again this October. If not it can be purchased online.

Kellenea, Thanks for the post. I'm looking forward to that movie because I'm still looking for ways just to live this nightmare day to day and to see how other woman do it. (Even if it is a movie.) The fact is we need these movies to help move anybody so they share it with others so we can find that Cue. I'm sure I will cry my eyes out. after two years of this I have never met a woman who was a stage 3. I know at least 40 women now that have this horrible desease they are all stage 0, 1, and very few twos. It ticks me off every day still that mine should have been caught earlier!

Jml, I can not imagine how hard it has been for you! Coming to this site and seeing how you fight and live with such an awesome attitude it frightens me I don't have it in me to fight that hard. In the same token it is so important for me and others here to see you sound off it is just to hard to ride that high continually with out sounding off! Thank you so much for your post! Gods blessings to you. Please know I am praying for you as I do for all the amazing people on this site.

I am begining to believe that unless you have been dx., or have a loved one who has been dx with bc or any other cancer.....many people just don't get it.
Sure they feel sorry when they hear so and so has been dx. and they will watch these movies etc. but unless it hits your heart or home....many do not understand the life changing events that take place for those of us who are dx. and those who battle the monster each day.
How often have we heard "well you are lucky you caught it early" or "you are lucky you are NED"...they just don't understand how the person who has been dx. that their life is never the same and a new normal takes over. For those who are NED after cancer their outlook is greatly changed and the stuff that most people worry about or the drama that runs their life - we know is not important. But getting the word out is vital...but until it hits home....well....then the bells begin to ring.

Thank you so much Linda for your post! I will check out cancer.org s forum out! I'm not so great at the internet. It was pure luck I stumbled onto this site! It does my heart good to see you doing so well! (and my mind) Along with all our sisters and brothers on this site fighting so hard, Ned, cured and last but not least living happily years and years out!

I know the development of this "Five" project comes from a good place, but all I know is when I was 33yo, being dx'd with Stage IV disease from primary diagnosis, being told there was no cure for me, that I would never be off chemo long enough to sustain a pregnancy, and then failing my 1st chemo combo, there were NO positive survivor role models for me to look to for hope & optimism. People in all those movie's of the week were either cured or died bald - nothing in between.
That is until I found this site.
And my world opened up with so many incredibly knowledgable, compassionate, fiercly fighting survivors that were LIVING, STRIVING and THRIVING.

Pray - thank you for your kind words. and yes, you could definitely handle whatever obstacle is placed in front of you. you just keep fighting hard and keep the faith~

Jean- i agree. if you haven't lived this disease there's no way to describe how to get through it, and in blissful ignorance people say things that are meant to be supportive, but just come out all wrong. I once had a woman/acquaintace from the gym that learned about my diagnosis, say to me that I "must not have the BAD kind..."

Debbie L - I know! It seems blasphemous to say that I dread all the October Pink Ribbon hooplah, but I do. So maybe I'm not grouchy, but I'm definitely a salty old 9+yr Stage IV'er!
