Last Herceptin today!
I finally get to post this, my last Herceptin treatment is today! Like others it comes with the usual fears but I know I will get through this stage as I have gotten through the others. Just glad I can share this with others that know how this feels.
I am so glad for all the Dr's and nurses care but if I don't have to take another step inside the infusion room I will be blessed. Just have to wait until March to get reconstruction, can't wait for my new boobies:) |
Re: Last Herceptin today!
Congratulations. Huge milestone. I cannot wait until I can post that. 5 to go. Then reconstruction in December. So want to put this chapter of my life behind me as we all do. I will be reaching the anniversary date next week of when this journey all began, finding the lump, all the tests, surgeries, treatment etc and find that I am feeling pretty gloom and worrying all over again. I hope this passes. I wish you well and many many healthy happy years and good luck with the new foobs. I hope it works for you this time. One day at a time and if I can repeat what I heard Becky say over again "everyday that you stay cancer free reduces the odds ", something to that effect. Fingers crossed. God bless. Darlene

Re: Last Herceptin today!
Congratulations!
ps. [I didn't get to 'finish' my 1 year Herceptin. After the 18 weeks (once every three weeks) of TCH, I was only able to get in 4 more weekly Herceptin. It's been three and half years since my last infusion. And I'm pleased to report that I've been doing well. So pat yourself on the shoulder - you've completed an incredible task!] |
Re: Last Herceptin today!
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Congratulations...may you leave the cancer world behind, and enjoy life fully once again. I often laugh that I see my infusion nurse, more than I see one of my sisters! |
Re: Last Herceptin today!
Congratulations. We are so lucky to be living in the era of Herceptin. Give yourself a treat -- two treats.
They had recliners in my infusion room, and I will never again look at a recliner without thinking of metal poles and plastic bags full of meds. |

Re: Last Herceptin today!
I am a bit late in the response to this post...since you finished in August. But what can you Expect ? hmmmm I want to tell you to expect good health and long life.
Of course you will feel concerned and bit anxious not having your Herceptin. We become very dependent on it as a sort of life line. I know when I stopped 6.5 yrs. ago I didn't want to. I even asked my onc. if he could give me additional treatments as it was a bit hard to let go of my herceptin safety net. In time you will feel confident once again and letting go and moving forward. It is the new normal. Many of us had the seperation anxiety of completeting herceptin treatment. I wish you all the best in finishing your herceptin treatment and moving forward to life. God Bless, Jean |
Re: Last Herceptin today!
You'll gain more confidence each day. My onc said "The leash is getting longer".
Congrats on being done with Herceptin. The next step new boobies! Donna |
