My oncologist is a breast cancer survivor
Just want to share alittle something with all of you. My oncologist is a 13 year breast cancer survivor and is so passionate and hard working. She gets in clinical trials and has a state of the art treatment clinic and is always ready to share the latest breakthroughs with each of her patients. Recently there were 2 major breakthroughs although not for breat cancer this time she was so excited. I asked her if she thought that we were getting close to finding a cure and she lit up and said that we are getting things figured out and that it will not be all at once but gradual and feels strongly that it will happen. That made my day. To see her so passionate and excited about such a horrible disease made me feel at ease to be in her care. I hope this makes someone else feel more at ease also. Darlene

Re: My oncologist is a breast cancer survivor
Darlene,
You are very blessed to have such a compassionate and motivated Onc. Mine is very young and also a cancer survivor, thyroid cancer. I feel fortunate to have her. |
Re: My oncologist is a breast cancer survivor
Both of you are very lucky to have doctors who in addition to all the professional training also know what it is like to be a cancer patient. Those doctors will certainly do their very best to help their patients.

My old oncologist was a BC survivor...she knew how it was...made a huge difference...wish she would have never retired.

Darlene, I'm sure it helps enormously to have your onc truely understand what being a cancer survivor is all about and so glad you have so much confidence in her.
