Tykerb/Herceptin Update!!
Her2 friends, I have some encouraging news to report following a ct and then pet scan. The tykerb/herceptin combo is continuing to keep things in check for me. The lung nodule is stable and the other few millimeter area does not light up on the Pet so my oncologist said no cyberknife for now, no chemo change, just continue on this for now. That was good news for me and it has been 18 months now on these two drugs. We all have to just keep on keeping on....right?!

Re: Tykerb/Herceptin Update!!
Fantastic! I also did well on Ty/Herc and was very sad to see it go... but I am in the wonderful hands of TDM1 now.

Re: Tykerb/Herceptin Update!!
Hi, Ceesun,
Congratulations, and was this ever something that I need to know! My markers took a nosedive on my first 1.5 cycles of the new regimen: Tykerb, Herceptin, Xeloda, and I'm almost in the normal range again. I'm hoping that this trend continues and we can drop the Xeloda at some point, keep just the targeted therapies and look into a vaccine. All the best, Karen |
Re: Tykerb/Herceptin Update!!
So happy for the good news! Yes, keep on keeping on...

Re: Tykerb/Herceptin Update!!

Re: Tykerb/Herceptin Update!!
Thanks to all...you are so very kind. I just want us to all do well...it would be such a miracle if we could just stop dealing with all of this, right! When I think of members here that we have lost, it just hurts so much. Brenda: yes, you had a long run on this combo for sure. And Chrissy three years on TDM1 is wonderful. Sheila, Chelee, you have worked so hard and long. Kris, if I can help in any way let me know...I had a good run on Xeloda, too. I have a friend whose hubby was diagnosed with early onset alzheimers in his early 50's(abruptly left his dental practice) and she had lymphoma....geez...she always says "stay present." That is what I try to do and I keep my Lourdes water with me much of the time.... Ceese

Re: Tykerb/Herceptin Update!!
Great news! I am curious - how much tykerb are you on each day? I have a hard time getting past 2 or 3 pills a day.

Re: Tykerb/Herceptin Update!!
Flori
I take 6 (3AM/3PM) Xeloda on ON week. No Xeloda on OFF week. I take 4 Tykerb daily. No days off. I have Herceptin infusion every three weeks. So, one week I take 10 pills, one week I take 4. So far, so good. Karen |
Re: Tykerb/Herceptin Update!!
Great news Karen and Ceesun long may it continue!!
|
Re: Tykerb/Herceptin Update!!
Flori, I take 1250mg--the 5 tablets a day---and usually 2 immodium pills a day, too.

Re: Tykerb/Herceptin Update!!
I have been on this combo for 30 months and continue NED as of this month's Pet/CT Scan. I take Herceptin every three weeks and 750mg of Tykerb nightly. Dr. Slamon told me we are in "unchartered waters" with this combo so he said we would talk about next steps if I stay NED for 3 years. What I know he means is that there isn't much data to show how long this combo might continue to work for metastatic disease. I am grateful it continues to work with minimal side effects that I can deal with after everything else I have experienced on this journey. I hope my post gives others hope. Never never give up HOPE.
