zometa after dental work
Hi, I 'm wondering if anyone knows how soon after dental work can zometa infusions begin? My onc advised me to get my wisdom teeth out before starting the zometa. The 2 left were the bottom ones and one was fully bony impacted so the surgeon also did a bone graft. How long do I need to heal before zometa can start? I sure don't want to increase my risk for the osteonecrosis of the jaw! But at the same time, I'm already a year out from chemo and would like to get started as soon as possible!
(I will be getting zometa because of osteopenia and early menopause from hyster/oopherectomy at age 39. I also have a mild case of scoliosis that my onc said can become worse with bone loss. She thought all of the above reasons warranted her enough reasons to justify ordering the zometa off-label for me.) |
Re: zometa after dental work
Hi Weety,
I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question but hoping someone else does. I think your dentist may be able to advise you of this so maybe make a call to him/her first? |
Re: zometa after dental work
My dentist seems to think I should be good to go in about 3 weeks. I just didn't know if that was long enough. It seems kind of short to me! With all the experiences I've had along this bc journey, one of the things that I've learned most, is that, just because they're docs/dentists, it doesn't mean they always know everything! And I just want to know if anyone else knows. It might save me from having to pay for a 2nd opinion.
