Tykerb Rash??
Went to the onc today and he commented that he noticed some small, red pimples here and there on the trunk of my body. I said it might be the body wash I am using ( my daughter is a bath product junkie!) but he said it probably was due to lapatanib. He never refers to it as tykerb. I have been on this for a couple years now and never got the face rash--has anyone else had this on the body? Wish I would have gotten the face rash cause so many have said that might mean its working....oh well. Ceesun

Re: Tykerb Rash??
Yes, I've gotten the rash on by body before. The Suki Serum recommended by someone on here works wonders at making the rash go away. As I recall it was several weeks into Tykerb the first time I was on it, when the rash developed.
I learned something interesting about Tykerb today. According to my onc, it can work later on down the road even if you previously progressed on it. Don't ask me how or why but I think he is right. It did very little for my brain tumors before and now they were shrinking before I even had the Gamma Knife. Of course it could be from the vaccine but you just never know. Thinking of you Ceesun! |
Re: Tykerb Rash??
At the end of the link, it lists all the possible side effects of Tykerb:
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/d...s/a607055.html Side effect is a sure sign that your body is 'reacting' to the medicine. I think most people probably prefer to have the rash in their body instead of their face. [Lapatinib is the generic name of Tykerb (the brand name). Doctors love to use the generic names (or whatever unfamiliar names) to confuse their patients. (I just made it up :)] |
