Am I expecting to much?
 

Hoping to get some experienced advice. I am in the last week of radiation and had herceptin treatment on fri. Have done really well with no SE from herceptin up to this point. This time I have terrible fatigue and sore throat. Is it related or just coincidence? It seems every ache and pain is scary these days!

Be sure to mention the sore throat to your doctors. Being tired is pretty common, but the sore throat should be checked out. If your current doctors can't help you an ENT doctor can take a look at your throat and see what is going on. In the meantime regular sore throat remedies might help.

That sounds a lot like the way I felt during my last week of rads and the week after. It really starts to get to you by then. Have the throat checked out by a doc. They may be able to give you something for it.

Hang in there, you're allmost through! And if you feel lousy for a few days or even weeks afterwards, we are here for you.

Thank you for the encouragement and advice. I guess I was feeling so strong, able to teach full time, that this kind of snuck up on me. So tired. And so much to do! If the sore throat doesn't get better I will find a family doc or ENT to see. I was never sick before nor had a family doc when I discovered my lump with BSE. At 46 I had only 2 mammo's...then bam, ob/gyn is sending me off for a biopsy. Pretty crazy knowing the only docs you have seen in years is ob/gyn, surgeon and oncologists! I am still getting used to "being sick".

Elizabeth, I had extreme fatigue right through radiation, not sure if it was rads or finishing chemo but can relate to what you're feeling.

I also was told by my rad onc that a sore throat is fairly common, usually in the first two weeks of rads, so think this is nothing serious but do mention it:)
