level of Her2...plays a role also

Interesting mention in the article is the level of Her2 plays a role in the treatment of herceptin. Back in 06,
Dr. Slamon shared with me that it was his belief that the higher ones level of her2 the better for herceptin treatment.

Interesting....

Very interesting article, however, parts of it leave me confused. I don't understand do they test for that gene now or will they be testing in the future? It says is an independent factor in prognosis, but also that it may be the driver for her2+ bc. I am confused as to whether this means all her2+ bc has the gene driving the overexpression or if having it, in addition to her2+ means a worse prognosis. How does one determine if this gene is the driver? Any help for this non medical person? Thank you!

Hey, Rich, wasn't there a mushroom that helped to inhibit GRB7? Seems to me you posted something on this a while back.

Hayley, I love the new avatar! It appears from this article that in the future they will test for GRB7 to see if it is present and to what degree. It's presence, probably the amount of its presence, may fuel the Her-2 fire and therefore must be inhibited by a yet to be produced med given in conjunction with Herceptin. It sounds as though there is quite a long way to go on this, but this may answer the question of why some recur despite Herceptin or progress while on it.

Great post, Jean, thanks!

Hayley,

I just wanted to comment on the beautiful picture of your family. The colors of your clothing blended so perfectly with the ocean waves and the sand...
