Pink Wishes Quilt

1 Attachment(s)
I'm not sure this will work since this is the first time I've tried to put a picture in a message....

This a quilt, totebag and pillow my daughter made for me. It is so beautiful. I take it with me to infusions and it provides me such comfort.

My daughter is so talented and has really gotten into quilting and she's made some clothes for my 3 dogs too. She did not get this talent from me, I can barely sew on a button-lol!

She's my only child and has been with me every step of this bc cancer journey. I don't know what I would do without her:)

Thank you all--I will pass your compliments on to Brittany. She found the pattern book on line and it has several bc patterns and items.

If anyone is interested I can get the link from her.

Keep me in your thoughts--I start rads on Monday for 6 1/2 weeks. I'm so glad the chemo is behind me!

wow, we're almost on the same radiation track! i just started last monday. 5 days down, 30 more to go. i don't mind radiation much except the fact that the room is so cold and my chest is half bare. i just try to tell myself it's worse for a guy getting it in the testicles. :) it takes longer to get undressed and for them to position you than it takes for the actual zaps. i get 10 seconds from the lower left and 10 seconds from the upper right. it's a bit undignified laying there with your arms about your head in that wooden torture contraption (my arms fall asleep).

been slathering myself with with $4 aloe after-sun goo instead of the $40 biofine they suggested. so far so good and absolutely no side effects whatsoever. if this weather ever clears my plan is to walk up to the hospital then back to work to somehow work some exercise into this lunch-time cancer fun i'm stuck doing.

i hope you have an uneventful radiation tour. it's kind of nice knowing there's someone doing it at almost exactly the same time. best, valerie

I wish I were so talented. That really is beautiful...and I love the colors. Just from looking at the tote, pillow and quilt...I can only imagine how nicely dressed the three dogs must be. :)

Good luck on the Rads...I hope it goes quickly for you. Hang in there...your almost done.

What a beautiful and thoughtful set of gifts. It would have to be comforting to wrap yourself in something so beautiful and so loving!

My sis is about half way done with her radiation and is doing well so far. She has some slight burn, but not too bad. She is wondering if there will be fatigue.

Wishing you well with the remainder of your treatment. Sounds like a few ladies are at the radiation stage at about the seme time. My best....

Hey Valerie,

Thanks for letting me know we are on the same track, so to speak. I know radiation will not be as bad as chemo, but I have to admit I cried all over again (not that I've only cried once) after meeting with the radiation oncologist.

She told me I will be having 3 sided rads which means from the left, directly on my scar and then on the right. She did say the one on the scar would not be as intense as the other two. She also said in my case they want to see a burn. So much for avoiding that. She then went on to say I would lose 15 to 20% of my lung function. I guess I just wasn't prepared for all of that.....

I understand about the arm going numb. I had to laugh at myself when I went last week for the markers. It took about 45 mins and I had my right arm in the thing behind my head and I have to turn my neck to the left the entire time. Well of course, the left side is my bad arm and turning left made me neck flare up. I had neck surgery last year right before I found out I had bc.

By the time I got home both of my hands were numb and my neck was hurting. But, at least I had a sense of humor by then.

I know I've gotten off track on this post, but if anyone has had rads like I'm going to have I would love any suggestions and to know what your experience was like.

Chelee and Barb,

Thank you for the well wishes.

Valerie,

Good to know I have a radiation buddy. I wish you the best with yours too--you sound like you are doing great. I'm back on track doing my lymphedema prevention exercises and have started walking longer with the dogs.

The lymp therapist suggested I wear a compression sleeve during the actual treatment. I've been fitted and am waiting on that to come in.

BC-the gift that keeps on giving.......

Thank you all again for your words of encouragement.

So beautiful !! Your daughter is so thoughtful. It must be nice to have a cheerful and warm blanket during chemo.
It is like you and your daughter are together during your treatment even though you may not be.
Nice idea to make a matching tote bag for you to carry things in when you go for your treatment.

That is a love quilt for you - to be wrapped in the love of your daughter. I wish mine had made me a quilt...instead she got a tattoo. Oh well, to each their own, right?

Blessed that I have a son, too.

I can say that daughters are very powerful creatures, and the love between a mom and daughter is immeasurable.

We are all someone's daughter!

Thanks for sharing the beautiful quilt and bags ...

I am the daughter that's always causing trouble by having life-threatening diseases... But my Mother (and Father, Sisters and Brothers) love/care about me even more...

My siblings are all spending a lot of time with my parents (95 and 87 right now in fairly good health.) I had found a pattern making squared crocheted stuff to make a quilt. That was almost 30 years ago. I never did make one - it's the thoughts that count... :) But I ended up with one that's made by one of my Mother-in-law's neighbors.

The only 'big' item I've ever given my Mom is a faux fur coat custom-made by a local doctor friend's wife.

Mother's Day is only a little more than 2 months away...
