T-DM1 Trials

I was able to contact the patient coordinator for a trial that is going on in my back door, and I am on the list for a potential spot.
Since I have not yet had Tykerb/Xeloda, I really don't qualify for this trial, but should I progress on the combo, I will be easily qualified.
She also mentioned to me a trial for the drug Array. Said it is new and in beginnig trials. Specifically for Her2 ladies also.
I am continuing with the Hercpetin and Taxol with once a month Zolada.
Do have one major problem this time. My face has a bright red rash across the forhead and down my nose to both sides of my cheeks. Nurse said it was from the Decadron. She also said they will reduce the amount since I am so sensitive. Who knew?
Anyone else experience this?
Take care all,
Emelie

Re: T-DM1 Trials

Hi Emelie
Glad you have got some good news about t-dm1 trials.

I had a bright red rash just as you have described whilst on taxotere and herceptin. It was Chelee in fact that responded and said the same thing had happened to her.
My onc also wondered if it was the steroids but I am convinced it was the taxane.I tried numerous things including cold compresses and a mild steroid cream but they didn't work. Eventually I realised that the sun was a trigger so I avoided it as much as possible and wore a very high factor sun cream and secondly bought a anti histamine cream from the pharmacy which really calmed it down.
Mine was so noticable that people thought i'd been burned and I thought it would never go! Once I stopped taxotere it gradually faded away.
One interesting thing was I didn't take the steroid before my last dose but still got the rash, that's what convinces me it was taxotere rather than the steroid.

Hope this is some help.
Ellie
