2 year gamma-versary today
 

Good News...I had "no signs of metastatic disease" on my brain MRI from last weekend!

Today marks TWO years since my gamma-ramma zap.
Despite the weirdness of having a stabilizing halo -literally- screwed into my head, the fear surrounding a brain! met, this procedure still strikes me as such a miracle of modern medicine.

To arrive at the Gamma Center at 7 AM and be home by 11:00AM with no more than slight inconvenience in comfort (especially compared to chemo, surgery or whole brain radiation) in exchange for two more years of health is still just amazing to me.

Just had to share a bit of the good news, in light of all the people we lost these past few weeks.

Fabulous news from fabulous Flori! Five years is right around the corner ...

Glad you posted both that it has now been 2 years since your Gamma Knife, and that you are still in awe at how EASY this is as a treatment to go through.

Keep talking about this as a comfortable and quick as well as effective treatment. When I have been approached or reached out to women newly diagnosed with brain mets, it is difficult to penetrate the initial fear and shock for a person who just got that news.

You and I did have good information from others who had been through this treatment ahead of us. We know that once the idea gets through the emotions that we can and WILL survive this, the Decadron becomes the worst of the whole experience!

Ha, Steph and if you are me, you negotiate out of taking more than one pill following the zippity-zap. Thanks for saying that 5 years is right around the corner. I will start to keep that in mind. As my bracelet says: "Cuk Fancer"

This is fantastic news and I am thankful that you took the time to share it.

Everytime I get a little dizzy from standing up too quickly, I panic. Knowing that there are effective and tolerable treatments for brain mets lets me breath a little easier.

Your new picture is great and exudes positive energy.

Flori, It's just wonderful to hear such good news...we all need some of that right now. Ok...hang on it's time for the happy dance. Alright I'm back now...let me just say congratulations on your two yr gamma-versary! :) Brain mets is such a concern for us Her2's...so it gives us such hope hearing that you and Steph both had success with Gamma Knife. Wooo hooo. Go out and celebrate!
