Breast MRI

Tomorrow I head to Dana Farber for my 1st Breast MRI since I was dx in February 2008. I am feeling really good about it but I know as I start to drive down there I'll start to get a little anxious. I had a lift on my left side and since my final surgery in August it feels like shooting pains sometimes. I know its probably all in my head but I just want to know everything is all good for the rest of 2010. I'm praying for a clean slate this year. All good things need to happen for my family. I also got my period back in November (it had been gone since May of 2008). I had a horrible time and it lasted for 10 days and then returned in December not even 15 days after my last day. I just hope this month it isn't as bad. Its also confusing cause my hot flashes haven't been that much either. Not sure what this all means but I'm just trying to stay positive. Thanks for listening. Happy New Year!

Sarah-

From my personal experience, since being diagnosed with bc, I have become hypersensitive to pain. I know some of the aches and pains I now experience I would have ingnored b/4 but now my motto is when in doubt...get it checked out. It helps to ease to the mind.

Good luck Sarah.
I hope your MRI comes back clean :)

Re: Breast MRI

Sarah,

Thanks for the update. From what I've been reading, MRI tends to show more than we need to know. Don't get panic too quick if the film does show 'stuff' on it.

Oh, it is 'today' already. How did it go?

ps. Is that your family on the cover of Parenting magazine? Great picture!

Sarah,

Good luck tomorrow! I am no fan of those thumping machines! As for the return of your lovely, little friend, I think that is normal for your age. From your signature I am placing you around age 38, so you are too young for menopause and your system may just be waking up from all the chemo and trauma. I gotta admit I do not miss my little friend.

Hoping good things for you and your family. BTW, were you on the cover of a magazine? Looks like you and your family are on the cover of a magazine in your Avatar.

Sarah ~
Hope your MRI went well! My period returned after a couple years of absense and it was a bummer for me too. Periods were terrible at the beginning and seemed to last forever.
Hugs ~ Ruth

Re: Breast MRI

It went well today except for the IV - I always practically pass out. The MRI itself went really well, I felt calm and and relaxed. I try to put myself in a euphoric spot. I met with Dr. Lin right afterwards and she did the typical exam and said everything felt good. She also told me she wouldn't have the results for 2-3 days. I hate the waiting game but that's what I'll do and not dwell on it. I truly feel good about today.

Laurel - I am turning 37 this March so you were close. I know that its probably better that my ovaries have started to wake up and I will embrace that and continue to stay in Tamoxifen.

Yes my family and I were in the cover of the parenting magazine/newspaper in New Hampshire. The magazine was looking for a young woman who was HER2+ and they contacted Genetech and then my contact there put me in touch with them. If you go onto their website www.parentingnh.com and look back to the November issue 2009. The only thing the reporter messed up was my staging she said I was stage 0 and I called her out on it immediately for the main reason of newly dx women (and men). I wouldn't want someone to think if rjey were stage 0 to go through 15 Mos of tx. She apologized and said she would do some kind of retraction on her other website. www.examiner.com. I was proud to try and reach out to other women out there and if it can just help one person I will be happy.

Thanks for all of your support and I will let you know what happens in the next few days. One more thing my doctor wants me to have a mammo. She said it shows calcifications more so than the MRI. So I scheduled that for January 14.

Re: Breast MRI

Hi everyone! Just wanted to let you know my MRI was NORMAL. I am so relieved and now feel even better about my mammo next week. I figure if nothing was found on that then the mammo should look good (right?)

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers, I really appreciate it.
