Swine flu/herceptin
 

Forgot to ask onc yesterday (in a daze about other issues) can you have swine flu vaccine whilst having herceptin?I know it's not recommended that you have live vaccines whilst on herceptin so am unsure

I don't know about that but my onc recommended against the vaccine for me and my family. Her reasoning: she wasn't going to take it either due to her concern that it had made it to market very fast and she wasn't convinced it was safe.

I asked my onc if I could have flu shots and he said yes. When I went to see my family dr he insisted I have the H1N1 flu shot as I have asthma. He knows I am in the midst of Herceptin treatment. I personally decided not to have the normal flu shot as I felt enough is enough.

I'm in the middle of chemo and my onc wanted me to have both the flu & swine flu vaccine. I got the regular flu shot a couple of months ago and plan on getting H1N1 on Monday. I would have it before now but had trouble finding it.

My onc said she and her children were all getting it. Seems to be different opinions on getting it.

I got both flu shots, the regular and the H1N1 Swine flu...and I am on Herceptin/Tykerb....after having pneumonia last year, I wasnt taking any chances!
