her2+ brst cancer, Grade III associated with nulliparity, late age at 1st childbirth
in Medscape From Reuters Health Information
Nulliparity, Late Age at First Childbirth Linked to Aggressive Breast Cancer NEW YORK Oct 28 - Nulliparity and late-life first childbirth are associated with more agresssive breast cancer, according to Swedish researchers. "We found that nulliparous women had a statistically significant high risk of grade III and HER2 over-expressing tumors," Dr. Salma Butt, of Malmo University Hospital, Sweden, and colleagues write in the October 15th issue of the International Journal of Cancer. |

Interesting. I have no family history of cancer on either side of the family. I'm the only one that ended up with bc...or any type of cancer for that matter. I stepped into a pre-made family and never had any bio childern...just my two step-kids I raised. So yet another possible reason for having Her2 bc.

I had tried three infertility treatments and all I got were three uterine fibroids. I think it was some genetic malfunction that caused my brain tumor, infertility, and breast cancer. Chinese has an old saying, "born in the wrong hour." I was born almost two months premature, definitely in the very 'wrong' hour.
Nulliparity and late child birth have all been said to be related to breast cancer. I wonder how they got narrowed down to be related to just the Her2+ Grade III subtype? |

Well, I have 3 kids (first one at 31). Breastfed them all until they were 2 years old and ended up with a very aggressive HER-2+ tumor at 38. I've met other young moms in a similar situation. Not sure I buy it.

These are relative risks. My cancer was found in 2004. Had my kids in 1995 and 2000, breastfed for a year. I was an older mom, though. I was 40 when my youngest was born.

Jackie, That is a good question you asked? I wondered the same?

I was 26/28 when my boys were born and breast fed both for a year. There is no cancer history in my family, I'm the first.

I was 31 when my first son was born. Second son 20 months later. Breastfed both. I am the first in my family on either side with breast cancer.
