NYT Article on MD Anderson and its fight against cancer

Woke up this morning to fetch my Sunday NYT for some off topic reading and instead found an article about MD Anderson cancer center right on the front page.

I just read it now - it has some good snippets about patients, their doctors, and their struggles. Nothing new that we're not used to reading, but interesting nonetheless. I've thought about going there for another opinion and may still do it at some point.

Here's a link to it:

BTW, forgot to mention it that the article has a somewhat depressing tone...

nonetheless, I thought it was a good read---since I have not been there to MDA but have heard much about it--

Thanks for posting this, Marcia. Coincidentally, I am in Houston right now and am meeting with the MD Anderson team tomorrow. Hoping to get some insight as to what my next move should be.

" Medicare offers more generous reimbursement"
Really? Not what other info sources have been saying.

Yep. A bit of a downer read.
It would have been nice if there was some mention of promising, maybe paradigm shifting treatments in development. Especially Kanzius' contribution being pursed by MD Anderson's Dr. Curley. That's a curious omission.
