NED in 10 weeks
hi - my name is margie, i'm from Tampa Florida - my story is unique. I was diagnosed DCIS August 2008.
I had a lumpectomy, September 2, 2008. My lymph nodes were benign. The surgeon said, I did not have any invasive cancer. I just needed radiation. As I was going to my treatments, my back ached. Tylenol was not helping. I went to the ER. They did a ct scan. It came back - liver met, her2 positive. My oncologist gave me 6 chemo treatments, taxol, carbo., herceptin. My miracle - I became NED by the 8th week. I have been on Herceptin only since last February 09. I go to Seattle 1 a mon., for a vaccine. I am doing great, according to my doctor. Anyone in the Tampa area would like to chat, talk or meet - let me know. margie |
Re: NED in 10 weeks
Hi,
Congratulations! How exciting! Don't know if anyone has replied to your thread. The only member I am aware of is Irene from Tempa Bay. You can find her by clicking on the 'Members List' on the top bar. As a matter of fact, you can private message everyone on the list that lives in your area. I'm too far to join the fun on the 'Bay'. But you all probably can form a chapter in the Tempa area. Have fun! |
Re: NED in 10 weeks
I too had a similar situation. CT/PET showed 2 lung mets...after the second round of chemo, scans showed the spots gone. I finished 6 rounds of chemo. My only question is that my spots were too small to biopsy, so we never knew FOR SURE if they were indeed cancer, or a false positive. I had so many lymph nodes positive that my oncologist leaned towards it being in my lungs. Was your liver ever confirmed by a biopsy, I know you said CT scan..just wondering. sherry

Re: NED in 10 weeks
Hi - it was my liver that had over 10 tumor lesions ranging from 6 - 8 cent. - they are seen as scar
tissue (small) on pet, w/no activity. It's been 9 months NED, with tumor markers cea at 0. That is why my dr considers me a miracle - but, I still will thank the Lord - it's all in his hands. I did not have any positive lymph nodes, and my lumpectomy was DCIS stage 0 in breast. When the Dr. in the ER found liver on ct scan, they were in shock. This was not what anyone was expecting. I was told we caught this as early precancer stage in the breast that does not spread, what a shocker to all - here involved in the medical team. I started chemo - tax, carb, herc., on Nov 1 08, ended on 2/11/09 - 6 rounds, herceptin indefinite. Now, I fly to Seattle 1 a mon. for a vaccine w/Dr. Salazar, next mon. last vaccine. Just thur. took the new her2serum tumor marker, i will get results on thur. - pretty nervous. My liver enzymes are 15 ast, 15 alt - normal. They were all high before finding in the liver. I feel fine - just scared, depressed at times, people say I should be thankful - I am. My scan is now every 4-5 mon. - blood work all normal. |
