update re: tumor markers rising

I saw the onc. yesterday. He thinks there's still a chance that the high ca2729 could be from the initial reaction to the taxol/carbo. He wants to give it another round of 3 weeks treatment. So I am doing 3 more treatments, then having another pet/ct and tumor marker blood test & see him again in 4 weeks to analyze results and go from there. He also prescribed neupogen to help keep my white blood cell count up so hopefully I won't have to miss a treatment. I will give myself a shot of neupogen 3 days a week. Another 4 weeks to be wondering if this is the right treatment path.

Pam, I'm gonna believe that it's the perfect treatment for ya at this time! My markers didn't really move until the 3rd course of treatment...keep believing! ma

Pam,

Are you still working? What did you decide about the disability? Hope you are having a good weekend.

Can you have them administer the Zometa 24 hrs after the Taxol?

Re: update re: tumor markers rising

Amelia - I decided to go for the disability & it was approved. And under the disability rules & can also work and earn up to a certain amount each month. So I am working at my same job but only 12 hrs a week. Best of both worlds.

Rich - I get zometa once a month. What's the 24 hrs after taxol about?

Thinking about you and hope this treatment works
for you and your counts go down and the blood
counts stay up with your shots. Hang in there.

Re: update re: tumor markers rising

Pam, My tumor markers jumped up once when I first started doing TCH...I worried about it but then they started going back down. So your onc might be right...it does happen.

That's nice that they will let you give yourself the neupogen injections yourself. I hated going back and forth to the cancer center just for a shot. I always asked why I couldn't take it home and do it myself...it would have saved me a trip and made life so much easier on me. That should keep your wbc up. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Hope this treatment kicks butt for you.

Pam,

Sounds like a good plan. Hopefully it's a false alarm with the markers going up.

Re: update re: tumor markers rising

Good, let's see if that was just really p-o'd cancer cells messing up those markers. I hope so.
