lump question
 

Susan C's post in "Chest Wall Recurrance" about a "moving" lump brought this question to mind.

As a young child my son would get an enlarged lymph node in his neck during the fall allergy season. Every year the school would call concerned; I would take him to the pediatrician, who would tell me it was from his allergies. After about three years of this, the pediatrician told me that he knew I was worried and could bring him in anytime, but if the lump was smaller than a quarter and movable, it was just filtering from the allergies and really nothing to worry about.

Is this rule of thumb valid for BC patients, in the case of neck nodes and/or other lumps we may find?

Does movable mean likely not recurrance?

In cases of DCIS, calcifications may be present and those can be movable.

My neck nodes are moveable and palpable and cancerous.....I dont think one every can determine unless they are biopsied.

Same for me - my breast lump was movable and my general doctor said that although I needed a mammo and ultra sound (since it was a lump) that everything would most likely be alright since it was movable and not fixed. Well, that theory was wrong (at least in my case).

The only way to be sure is diagnositic testing and biopsy if testing is unsure.
