Muga back up! Thanks to you guys!!

Just had another MUGA.

this one increased from 53% to 59%!! The difference being the CoQ-10 that you guys all recommended!!!

you guys ROCK!!

How much Q10 did you take and how often? Thanks.....most interested in your success. Carolyn

Carolyn,

I've been taking only 75mg per day. I just bought a new bottle of 100mg to bump it up. This stuff is great!

Hi Terri, Thanks for your info re CoQ10. I go this coming Monday for my last chemo and have a few questions to ask. This is good info for me. I see that our diagnosis is somewhat similar, well aren't we all somewhat similar here, hey! But I see you had your exchange done and then rads. Did you find the results were okay with radiation? My ps will not consider reconstruction until I am done all my treatment so flat chested here I sit. I will do rads about a month after my final chemo and am worried about the rads affecting my chances of reconstruction. I will only consider implants as I do not want any more cutting done on my body than I have already endured. Your posts always give me hope. Thanks,Carolyn

Awww Thanks, Carolyn! glad to know that I'm inspiring someone today!

It's really hard to say which is the best way to handle reconstruction/rads. seems like each doctor has their own opinion. there are successes and failures either way. You just sometimes have to trust the luck of the draw.

my rads have tightened up my right side a bit. it is still very soft to the touch, but it is perkier than my left side. I have no pain, but still have a slight tan 5 months after the fact. I'm told that the skin might continue to tighten for possibly 5 years! I just keep massaging it with lotion and hope for the best!

Hang in there! This is the BEST place you can be!

Happy to hear your MUGA scores are up, Terri!

I take CoQ10 now but I did not know about it during my chemo.
Walking for 30 minutes everyday had helped me get my score up during chemo/herceptin.

hugs,
shobha

Good job Terri on your MUGA!!! I have taken COQ since I first heard about it (here) back when I started Herceptin. I always had a good MUGA...and I still take COQ! Just in case...!!!

Well, I sure would love others to be able to know this info! maybe a sticky note in the Herceptin/tykerb forum?

Ellie F 07-21-2009 01:18 PM

Thanks for the information. I first heard that it was effective with adriamycin just as I finished.Glad to hear it's also effective with herceptin so I will be off to get some tomorrow.

As usual brilliant information from this board.

I started taking CoQ10 when I started Herceptin, it was Ok'd by the Onc. During my time on Herceptin I took 300 mg a day.

Now that all my treatment is finished I still take CoQ10 200 mg a day.

It's good to hear MUGA scores are on the rise! I think CoQ10 is the wonder vitamin or mineral. I will get the results of the my recent MUGA tomorrow when I visit my onco. I hope for a good score too.
