Hi, I've been busy visiting with my old friends and families these past couple of days. Just posted this song list on my college choir alumni's online group. The ones you don't recognize are in Mandarin Chinese. I thought I would share it with y'all and request for your prayers during my surgery at 11 am Tuesday.

[The conductor of my Freshman year just e-mailed me suggesting to add the song of Psalm 23 - His Mother sang it to him when he was sick while a young boy. It's also Amelia's pick.]

(Feel free to edit since I am just writing it off the top of my head with my own translations sometimes)

Xiao baobei kuai tien shuei giao, birds are all back to their nest. In the garden and the field, the bees no longer making noise. Only the silver moonlight quietly shines into the window – Shines on the baby dreaming of the fairy island. Little baby, fall asleep. s-l-e-e-p, s-l-e-e-p.

3) For Elise [Tuesday is one of the two garbage pick-up days, the other day is Friday (no, it is not played in Central Texas :)]

4) Feng Yang Hwa Ku [Jack and I most likely are going to gripe at each other some under stress; and I do wear size 9 shoes J]

5) Kust Mail Cart(?) [Believe it or not, I had directed it while a freshman at 2nd Girls High (1974) in an intramural competition: …Running forward, running forward, the nonstop hoofbeats… and my fellow classmates were 'running' out of my control – I was too young (14) to pull them back][Oh, yah, I put it here because Jack and I are always late and have to rush. J]

6) Wo Hsien tsai yiao chu cheng [(I’m onward to the battlefield) – we are marching [rushing] inside of the hospital, acting ‘brave’ while in fact we are ‘lost’ at the newly expanded Hospital www.sw.org]

7) Love [The True Essence of love] – Our former music minister, Theiss Jones, who had just passed away last month at 71, sang it in our wedding (both in Chinese and part English of his own translation based on my description – he was learning Mandarin around the time before his trip to China.) He was the Student Conductor while at Baylor University. He’s a wonderful baritone, and was forever patient during choir practice – He was active in the Bapitst Music Ministers choir, ‘The Century Men’, and had served as its Chairman for a couple of years.

8) O Let The Son Of God Enfold You by John Wimber, based on Revelation 19:4 and John 10:10-16
[I love to play this one because it is an easy and beautiful Spirit Song (whatever that means) My
Chinese Church members thought I was an OK pianist partly because of this song.]

9) May the Road Rise to Meet You, May the wind be always at your back. The sun shine warm upon your face, the rain fall softly upon your field – and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. May the Lord bless you and keep you, may the Lord lift His face and shine upon you, and give you peace. [This is when I am going under anesthesia – I am seeing the sunshine…]

Thank you all so much. I will add the Psalm 23 to the list and introduce 'On Eagles' Wings' to my alumni when I revise the list next couple of days (Anyone else has other good songs - hurry up :) Here's the report I just posted on the board for my alumni:

Hi,

Just woke up in my own bed at home. Had to call 'Time & Temperature' to get myself oriented. Everywhere I look, there's warning about an April Fool's Day virus attack. But I thought I'd better get the 'good news' out.

The surgeon took a piece of tissue sample from each of the two 'lumps' in question. She told Jack that from her 'naked eye' assessment, they looked like scar tissues. One finding that had surprised her: a 'clip' that had been left in the previous surgical site was found in the underarm spot. She stated that she had never seen one that had pushed up the tissue so much to make it look and feel like a 'growing' lump.

[No, the clip was not left by 'accident'. I had a 'clip' in the original lumpectomy site in 2003 to help medical professionals locate the exact spot for radiation and
diagnostic purposes. But the so-called 'scar tissue' on the mammograms was never further investigated, so my recurrence was not found until 2007 when it was over 2+ cm. with two lymph nodes involvement - and that's how I had learned (a hard lesson) not to completely trust doctor's words. One of our 'physician alumni' had e-mailed me that 'since doctors can only check us
periodically' , greater efforts have to be made with our own diligence. He's not surprised I was the one that had found the lumps. But he was upset by my doctor's lack of professional attitude. Especially with my medical history, 'anything abnormal needs to be handled in a serious manner'. ]

So now we are waiting for the pathology report (in two days) in a very optimistic mood.

Several alumni shared about the cancer journeys of either their own or their loved ones. Having been a cancer fighter for almost 20 years, I feel the medical advancement has given patients great hopes and indeed 'cancer' has become more like a 'chronic illness' issue.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for showing me his/her concerns. I hope this episode of mine can at least bring attention to breast cancer (or any other cancer or illness.) And that is for 'everyone', not any particular age group or health status.

Words can not express my gratitude to this wonderful 'family' that had first adopted me in 1978. Thank you.

All of our lumps and bumps need checking and you know from painful experience not to let these things ride.
