Army of Women recruiting for the Sisters Study

This is a site that also recruits for other research for Breast cancer

If you are the sister of a woman who had breast cancer , the Sister Study needs you!
Our very first Love/Avon Army of Women Call to Action was for the Sister Study, and even though many of you responded, the Sister Study is still shy of its goal. So let’s help them get there!

The investigators need women of all ethnicities, but they especially need to enroll African American women. It is very important to the Sister Study and us that the study’s findings represent ALL women. Right now, African-American women are underrepresented in the Sister Study. And that needs to change!

If you fit the description below, read more and sign-up. If you don’t, please pass this e-mail on to a friend or co-worker...even if you don’t know anyone who can enroll, you never know who they know who might!

For those of you already signed up, you are still on the list! Thank you and if you haven't received your kit, you will be receiving it soon.

500 More sisters needed to join the Sister Study by March 31, 2009

What’s the study about?

The Sister Study is the only long-term study of women aged 35-74 whose sister has had breast cancer. It is a national study to learn how environment and genes affect a woman’s risk of getting breast cancer. A total of 50,000 women needed by March 31, 2009 to find the causes of breast cancer.
What’s involved?

If you join the Sister Study, you will get a Sister Study Kit through the mail. The Kit contains study information, questionnaires, and material to use when collecting urine, toenail, and household dust samples.

Participation includes having your blood drawn and sending in a sample of urine, toenail clippings, and house dust. You will be asked to complete questionnaires and participate in a two-part phone interview.
