Senior Member Join Date: May 2008 Posts: 57 I'm back with baggage Hey all, I have a single brain met that refuses to clean up after two craniotomies. I am now on my second week of lapatinib monotherapy. I seem to be a rarity in the journals and am looking for anyone who is in a similar boat. And, as I have learned on another post lately - it might be an option to consider taking Boswellia (sp?)... http://www.her2support.org/vbulletin...ad.php?t=37558
You have to read through a little to get to Lani's posts and Courtney's experience... but here's a tidbit: "Flavin DF. Foundation for Collaborative Medicine and Research, 24 Midwood Drive, Greenwich, CT, 06831, USA, Dana_FK@hotmail.com. The complication of multiple brain metastases in breast cancer patients is a life threatening condition with limited success following standard therapies. The arachidonate lipoxygenase pathway appears to play a role in brain tumor growth as well as inhibition of apoptosis in in-vitro studies. The down regulation of these arachidonate lipoxygenase growth stimulating products therefore appeared to be a worthwile consideration for testing in brain metastases not responding to standard therapy. Boswellia serrata, a lipoxygenase inhibitor was applied for this inhibition. Multiple brain metastases were successfully reversed using this method in a breast cancer patient who had not shown improvement after standard therapy. The results suggest a potential new area of therapy for breast cancer patients with brain metastases that may be useful as an adjuvant to our standard therapy. That reminds me Brenda, wanted to mention that I pointed out that information from Courtney's post to my Eddie. We see the OncoMan on the 23rd to restart chemotherapy and I want to ask him about that. God I am praying for a miracle. Lots of love to you girl!>>Believe51
PS: Thanks for putting the bb gun down, I was scared (wink) |
