herceptin/function tests abnormal.
Hi, everyone,
Checkingin with a question of concern. Several weeks ago had to go to Er for a high fever. The next day I found out I had an UTI and was put on Levaquin. this made me sick and when the CMP was done, the kidney function test came back a weeks later that the levaquin was messing with my kidneys. I was taken off of it. At the same time, my liver function test came back high and I have low hemoglobin. This is the first time for all of this and it was very upsetting. Aren't these functions nexcesary to take Herceptin? I am in my 2nd year cancerverary for Herceptin and neither my onco nor I want herceptin to end. My CA has gone down! Has anyone ever had this to happen with the function tests? thanks to all for your wonderfull support, hugs kathy |
Hey Kathy,
A lot of meds are filtered throught the kidneys. I had lab work done after my 1 year MRI and MUGA scans, my kidney values were all off. It was because of the dye that they used for the scans. IT took 6 weeks to get the numbers back where they had been. Same can be true for the liver to an extent. I had my last Taxol in June I am on Herceptin and Tamoxifin now, my hemaglobin still has not rebounded. Just keep an eye on it all! Cheryl |
Having spent my childhood with kidney disease, I have learned to flush my kidneys with cranberry juice after every kind of treatment. Get the lite so you don't get so much sugar....Two big bottles the day of and the day after treatment works wonders to keep those back pains away. Hope it works for you! ma
