~Rich66~How Is Mom??

Thinking about Mom today and just wondering how she is? Just said a special prayer for her.

Thanks for asking.
Recent scans show shrinkage in lung tumors but no discernable change in the diffuse liver lesions. 1st bone scan showed no mets. Brain CT scan still negative (has become an inside joke). Liver tests show total bilirubin in normal range but AP and AST still significantly elevated. Tumor markers are down a little placing them in normal range and first circulating tumor cell test read zero (>5=bad). She's looking and feeling good with leg and foot swelling down to pretty much normal. So..things are generally good but there is concern over how to get better results in the all-important liver.
As you know...looking under every stone.
I'm ok...trying to balance the seeking with being in the present. You know all too well how challenging that can be;)

Rich, I am so happy to hear that Mom is doing better, I have been thinking of her often. Now that many of the smaller, yet still very important problems have lightened up....lift them stones. Leave none unturned, but please take care of yourself too.

It is very difficult to live in 'cancerland' and try to survive in the present. Try to rebel against cancer somehow, in small ways. Last weekend I rebelled after hearing Ed mentioning to the cat that "Mommy will have our tree up soon". I was rebelling by lightly decorating as he spoke and asked him if the decorations were depressing him. He told me he loved them and could not wait for the tree. Then I went on to putting up the tree and all of the many Hallmark ornaments, to finishing the Christmas cards, to wrapping the gifts, to planning the meal. To hell with cancer, I had to monitor him closely for the last few weeks so I made my time positive (very hard to do). I try not to give cancer any more of the upper hand in our lives. I try to live in the moment but it is a daily struggle.

Now instead of listening to me....aren't there any rocks you need to turn over?? LOL. Take care Rich and give Mom a giant hug from me!!>>Believe51
