Herceptin/Gemzar- HIGH RISING LIV. ENZYMES! HELP!
 

Hi friends,
I recently had to start a new chemo, Herceptin/Gemzar and had an unpleasant surprise! After one week of treatment, liver enzymes skyrocket!!! ALT went from 40 to 213 and AST went from 49 to 175!! ALK from 123 to 180. My liver enzymes never moved that much (or even close to) or that high though I have liv. mets and had other chemos! This is new and very scary. Hearing from you may bring me some peace of mind. Lida

My liver enzymes also rose on Gemzar. My onc warned that the rise is a common side effect. I'm sure your doctor will regularly monitor this, so if he/she is not concerned then follow their lead.
