Parathyroid Surgery and now....

Came through my parathyroidectomy well and the tumor was benign. I am almost fully recovered with just a little difficulty swallowing and still quite hoarse but this will go away within a month. I had to have a complete physical before surgery including a chest x-ray and low and behold the x-ray showed some findings in my lung and the doctor now wants me to have a CT scan...Yikes! Didn't expect that. My doctor is comparing the film to previous ones and says they tend to over analyze these films especially in former cancer patients. I would rather they over analyze then disregard so we can be on top of things quicker. Please say prayers and let's hope it isn't something serious. Thanks for the support.

You are in my prayers

My prayers are with you Rina. I am so thankful and give praise to God that you tumor was benign. I pray that the "findings" are nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the good news on the parathyroid path. Seem our bodies are always playing tricks on us.

You know, so many of us get those little lung nodules that can scare the daylights out of us. I have had them, and they can and DO go away on their own. My hubby also had one for about 2 years that disappeared.

By a very wide margin they turn out to be b-9. That is my prayer in your case.

Rina glad to hear the good news on your surgery and hope you have a quick recovery.
I had a suspicious chest x ray too after rads, a ct was arranged and I had myself convinced it was mets.
Thankfully it was'nt and all came back benign..hope yours does too. It's so easy to suspect the worst but sometimes it's good news too!

Thanks gals, you all have made me feel much better about this. I spoke to my internist who had the radiologist check the chest x-ray and at this time they feel there is no need to proceed with a CT scan. I am waiting for a call back from him because that was his message and I want to know more specifically what it is that was in question, ie; is it nodules, if not what was it and why no CT scan given the nature of her2 reoccurences? I do feel better about it though because I have trust in my doctor. Thanks again for the feedback.

Rina
It seems that lung nodules are quite common, especiall after rads....several women here have had them show up.....it is ususally something they just monitor, as they are commonly benign. Glad to hear the good news after your surgery....now relax...you have had a busy summer. We need to get together!!!!!
